Published in 1954, when she was just 18, Françoise Sagan’s short novel, Bonjour Tristesse, was an instant best-seller in France. But in England it was censored and only reissued in a full translation in 2013. In this half-day school we will consider this funny and stylish portrait of youthful hedonism in post-war Europe, and discover why Sagan has been called ‘the French F Scott Fitzgerald’.
