Course Overview
Celia Fremlin was once a household name: they called her ‘Britain’s Patricia Highsmith’ and ‘the grandmother of psycho-domestic noir’. In this half-day school we will look carefully at Fremlin’s Uncle Paul (1959), a psychological thriller set in a seaside caravan resort. What do we make of Uncle Paul? Is he out for revenge, or are our three women protagonists letting their nerves get the better of them?
