Course Overview
This workshop is designed to explore the experience and consequence of Britain’s only General Strike, called in May 1926. Themes to consider will include the causes and course of the Strike, the extent of strike action in Norwich, the attitude of both the supporters of the action and its opponents, Government preparations, TUC organisation and the extent of civil disorder in Norwich. Finally, we will examine reactions in Norwich to the end of the Strike.
