Course Overview
We depend on only a few types of crop plants for our nutrition. In this introductory session, led by Michael Bevan, Emeritus Professor at the John Innes Centre, we will learn how evolution, exploration and domestication have shaped their development. We will then consider how modern, genetic technologies can enable us to meet the future challenges of food security. Along the way, we will encounter some fascinating individuals, and also some local heroes.
