This half-day school offers an insight into the reconstructed history of a Tudor gentleman’s kitchen garden and orchard. It describes research methods, examines Tudor gardening manuals and herbals, and explores the garden’s location and construction. We will investigate contemporary plants found in kitchen gardens and their propagation, and we will also consider how the Tudors maintained and experienced their productive spaces. participants will have the opportunity to see some replica plant6 pots, watering ‘thumb pots’ and original gardening tools
