Has Margaret Thatcher’s dogmatic statement ever been justifiable? What do we understand by ‘society’? This day school will initially look at historical sociological perspectives which sought to explain how society is constructed, what causes social change and the relationship between the individual and society. We will then begin to examine our current society from the perspective of family and community, and return to consider whether Thatcher’s thinking might still have some relevance today.
