Course Overview

What role did our county play in the 1914-18 conflict, and what was its impact on our local communities? This course will explore a range of topics, from the outbreak of war and the mobilisation and recruitment of local men for military service, to developments on the home
front including auxiliary war hospitals and women war workers. We will also look at bombardments and Zeppelin air raids, before concluding with a look at the Armistice and legacies of the First World War. This is an introductory course with no prior knowledge needed.
